To minimize the mistakes in the calculation of distances, the bow musts be set for the maximum power afordable by the archer. The arrows must fly the more straigh, the better; the ideal would be what is known as tense shot, but this physically is impossible.

BOW SHOOTING COMPETITIONS

During the whole year a lot of bow shooting competitions are organized, either by the different Federations (Catalan, Spanish, International,...) or by the Clubs.
Depending upon the place where the shooting is taking place, they can be grouped in Indoor Target Archery and Outdoor Archery.

It is shot in both Recurve and Compound divisions
Archers shoot over 40 cm. diameter targets, at a distance of 18 meters.
They use to shoot two rounds of 30 arrows, in groups of three. Each group of three musts be shot in 2 minutes.

Outdoor Archery: It groups The Outdoor Target Archery, Forest course (3D and 2D) and The Field Archery.

It groups the Olimpic's disciplines, that are:
- Round FITA: 36 arrows at each one of 90 and 70 m. distances, on targets of 122 cm, and 50 and 30 m. on targets of 80 cm.
- Round 2x70: It is actually the Olimpic one; two rounds of 36 arrows at 70 m., on targets of 122 cm.
- Round 900: Three series of 30 arrows at 60, 50 and 40 m. distances, in groups of 6 arrows, on targets of 122 cm. In the next table you can see the bases of the Round 900 organized by Club Arc Montjuic

Forest course:
Teams of 3 to 5 archers shot over each one of the course targets, which are animal's shapes.
- Forest 2D: Targets are drawings or pictures at real size. The course consists of 21 targets and archers shoot two arrows from each different pick (one arrow from each pick).
- Forest 3D: Targets are volumen figures of animals at real size. The course consists of 20 targets and archers shoot two arrows from the same pick. Traditional recurved bows shoot from the blue pick, at a maximum distance of 35 m, and compounds shoot from the red pick at a maximum distace of 45 m.

It is a combination of the other two. Teams of 3 or 4 archers . On courses of 16 or 24 targets, archers shoot 3 arrows from each pick over each one of the targets. Targets are circulars , black with a yellow center; they can be of 4 different sizes: 20, 40, 60 and 80 cm. The course consists of two rounds, one to known distances and another one to unknown distances.


FITA 900 -ROUND 900

1º.: Norms
The shooting will be under the FITA norms valids in the round data.
2º.: Participation
All archers can participate
3º.: Seccions

Squirrels (from 8 to 12 years old), Childishs (14 y.o.), Juniors (16 and 17 y.o.), Seniors (18 to 49 y.o.), Veterans (50, 60, 70, 80 y.o.). All seccions will have male and female archers.

A) Squirrels will shoot at 30, 18 and 10 m. Childishs will shoot at 50, 40 and 30 m. (this distances are for any kind of bow). Cadets, Juniors and Seniors will shoot at 60, 50 and 40 m. Veterans and Super-Veterans will shoot at 60, 50 and 40.

B) LONGBOW-TRADITIONAL (wood arrows and natural feathers) will shoot at 40, 30 and 20 m . BARE BOW-INSTINTIVE and STANDARD will shoot at 50, 40 and 30 m . CLASIC-OLIMPIC and COMPOUND will shoot at 60, 50 and 40 m .

C) Everybody will shoot 30 arrows , in groups of 6, at each distance, total 90 arrows on targets of 122 cm.

4º.: Categories and Score
6ª category .................... 300 points
5ª category .................... 400 points
4ª category .................... 500 points
3ª category .................... 600 points
2ª category .................... 700 points
1ª category .................... 800 points
A) On supply MEDALS in relation with the score got in two times, that is, the score must be the one got in one competition and confirmed in another one.
B) The medal will be supply only once.
C) Each archer which shoot for the first time will start without any category.
D) For being classified in the 6ª category it is neccesary to get the medal, that is, to get the minimum score twice.
E) To climb up on the category, it must be done from one to one.
5º.: The Competition
A) 10 or more round per year will be organized.
B) The total score got in one Competition will determine the category, like this: In the case of shooting in all the rounds (10 or more) from the total score it will be deducted the points got in the lowest two rounds.
C) Trofies will be supplied to the three first classified, if there were 6 or more archers in each category. If there are less archers, trofies will be supplied proporcionaly: Until 3 archers, 1 trofy; 4 or 5 archers, 2 trofies; 6 or more archers, 3 trofies. To be able to get trofies it is neccesary to shoot at least in more than the 50% of the rounds.
D) The category of each archer won't be calculated until the 3ª round and it will be kept for all the year. If the archer got a higher score, the following year he/she will reach the corresponding category.
E) If during the year the archer doesn't confirm the category got in the previous year, he/she will loose one category.
6º.: Claiming
All claiming will be solved by the Organization Comitee, and if neccesary, with the jutge help. The resolutions will be unappealabled.
